Marcy Rylan Cast to Play Abby Carlton

The casting department at The Young and the Restless has been working overtime. With plans to age the character of Abby Carlton, formerly played by Hayley Erin as a teenager, Marcy Rylan will assume the role as a young adult. Ms. Rylan, of “Guiding Light” fame will begin taping on April 5. Look for her first air date sometime during the early part of May.

Heather Stevens Recast

Several online sources have reported the role of Heather Stevens has been recast. Vail Bloom, who has portrayed Heather since 2007 will be replaced by Eden Riegel of “All My Children” fame. Ms Riegel will begin taping her scenes in mid March. Look for her first air date in early April.

Fans of The Young and the Restless wish Ms. Bloom well with her future endeavors and welcome Ms. Riegel to Genoa City.

2010 Daytime Emmy Pre-Nominations Announced

The 2010 Daytime Emmy pre-nominations were announced on February 26, by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The Young and the Restless faired well with 13 pre-nominations in the actor categories. They are as follows:

Outstanding Lead Actress – Sharon Case, Jeanne Cooper and Michelle Stafford

Outstanding Lead Actor – Peter Bergman and Doug Davidson

Outstanding Supporting Actress – Stacy Haiduk and Elizabeth Hendrickson

Outstanding Supporting Actor – Greg Rikaart and Billy Miller

Outstanding Younger Actress – Christel Khalil and Emily O’Brien

Outstanding Younger Actor – Bryton McClure and Kevin Schmidt

Former Y&R cast members also pre-nominated are Vincent Irizarry, Don Diamont and Heather Tom.

The Academy will announce the final nominees on May 12. Congratulations to all past and present cast members, great job.

Sean Kanan, former Deacon Sharpe on The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless, has been cultivating a second career as a stand-up comic and has recently appeared at several comedy clubs in the L.A. area.

For those of us who are unable to attend Sean’s shows live, he has posted clips of his routine on YouTube.

Tracey E. Bregman and Christian LeBlanc Scheduled to Appear in Reba McEntire Video

Fans of Tracey E. Bregman and Christian LeBlanc will be pleased to learn both will be appearing in an upcoming Reba McEntire video. Christian tweeted behind the scenes photos, showing the video’s backdrop as taking place at a wedding. The video will showcase Ms. McEntire’s new song, “I’ll Keep Loving You”. We are looking forward to the video’s debut and can’t wait to see one of our favorite Y&R couples on CMT.

Y&R Cast Members Continue to Celebrate February Birthdays

Wilson Bethel, who portrays Ryder, celebrates his birthday today, February 24. Michael Fairman, Murphy on Y&R, will mark the occasion on February 25th. Last but not least, Greg Rikaart, Kevin, will celebrate his birthday on February 26th.

Thom Bierdz to Make Appearance in Washington DC

Not only is Thom Bierdz a fine actor, he is also an author and talented artist as well. He will be appearing at Books-a-Million, located at DuPont Circle in Washington, DC on March 7. Also, Thom is sending out a call to all fine artists and photographers. He has announced a call of entry on behalf of the American Art Awards for their 2010 competition. The Young and the Restless Writing Team Wins 2010 Writers Guild of America Award

The Writers Guild of America announced last evening the winners of the 2010 Writers Guild Awards. The writing team from The Young and the Restless received the award for Best Daytime Serial. Sean Kanan News

Sean tweeted this morning there are no immediate plans for his return to The Young and the Restless. His reoccurring cross-over role as Deacon Sharpe has ended. We are sad to see him go but are encouraged to learn the door has been left open.

Sean is continuing to pursue other ventures as well as developing his stand-up routine. His next appearance will be at the John Lovitz Club at Universal City in California on March 13. Call 818-824-6545 for additional information and tickets.

We wish Sean well with his other endeavors and look forward to his eventual return to daytime.
