Congratulation to Christian LeBlanc for winning the Outstanding Lead Actor Award at the 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards held at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles last night. During his acceptance speech you could notice Mr. LeBlanc sporting a black wristband on his right wrist. He is not trying to start a new trend in Hollywood by wearing protective gear with formal attire. He is recovering from wrist surgery. We congratulate him again on is well deserved Emmy and wish him a speedy recovery. I’m sure last night’s win will help ease his pain.
Our congratulations also go out to other Y & R nominees, Jeanne Cooper, Emily O’Brien, and Bryton McClure in the acting category as well as all the behind the scenes crew. Congrats to all!

Jack enters the church with the hopes of helping Patty and realizes how distraught she really is. She seems genuinely excited about her pregnancy and Jack is confused. He confers with Paul and both are surprised by Patty’s claim. Years ago Patty was pregnant by Jack and suffered a miscarriage. She can no longer have children. Jack re-enters the chapel and sees Mary Jane ready to be wed, vale and all. Gloria, dressed as a nun, offers to help Patty but slips away as Jack walks in. In the meantime, Jeff cuts off the electricity to the church. The GCPD, with Paul in tow, storm the church, but can’t find Patty.

Paul tries desperately to protect Patty/Mary Jane from herself. He tries to broker a deal with the police to place Patty under house arrest under his guardianship. Paul reminds the detective he is only asking for the same deal Victor Newman received for his son Adam. He claims rules can be broken for the rich and powerful in Genoa City, but not for everyone else. Paul states he will go public if he doesn’t receive the same agreement for his sister. In the meantime Mary Jane, sitting with her new found kitten (and this one is alive), calls Jack. She asks him to come to the church to help them. Jack is confused by why she referred to herself as “them”. She tells Jack she is pregnant. Jack heads off to the church and Jeff follows him, pursuing Victor’s bounty. When Jack enters the church he is greeted by a distraught Paul who tells him Mary Jane is not who he thinks she is, she is in fact his sister Patty, Jack’s ex-wife. Later, as Mary Jane waits for Jack’s arrival, a nun walks into the church to light a candle, the nun is Gloria.
Cane continues to support Lily with her battle against cancer. She realizes she is still struggling with all of the lies her husband has told her. She is mentally and physically exhausted by her plight and feels she can’t fight her husband’s lies and chemo at the same time. Cane reassures her he will be there for her as long as she wants him to.
Billy and Chloe meet at the magistrate’s office to sign their divorce papers when Billy begins to have second thoughts about ending his marriage. I don’t know who was more surprised by Billy’s change of heart, Billy himself, or a stunned Chloe. When Mac found out Billy did not sign the papers, she confronted him. Later, while Billy was consoling himself with a scotch, he signed the papers. I wonder if he’ll remember.

Once again Victoria and J.T. try to reconcile, but the subject of Victor is still tearing them apart. After J.T. tells Victoria that Mary Jane is Paul’s sister and he thinks Victor is responsible for bringing her to Genoa City and paying for her plastic surgery, she becomes angry with her husband yet again. Later Victor enlists the help of Jeff and Gloria to bring Mary Jane to him. In the meantime Paul is keeping Patty at the church where he feels they will be protected from the law.
Jill, the former CEO and current manicurist, is approached by Katherine and Murphy to come up with her half of the real estate taxes due on the Chancellor estate. They present her with a bill for $100,000 (and I thought my real estate taxes were high). She returns to the salon where she is currently working and asks for additional shifts. Gloria walks in to get a manicure and is obviously thrilled to see the powerful Jill Abbott knocked down a few notches. Just curious, how many manicures will it take to generate $100,000? Maybe I’m in the wrong profession.
Chloe and Billy meet to sign their divorce papers. Billy gets cold feet. Chloe is surprised. Mac will be furious.

Zapato makes it to prime time. Fans of Y & R’s favorite K9 will be happy to know Zapato has been cast to play “Moose” on “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”. I wonder what the current contract rate for a dog is.
The beloved Beth Maitland is scheduled to return to Genoa City on September 3. It will be a good thing to have Traci back home, both her sister and daughter need her.

Phyllis accepts Sharon’s explanation why Jack has not visited her at the hospital. She explains to Phyllis she needs to address her problems on her own and not depend on a man’s support. As Phyllis was leaving she saw Nick talking to a staff member about Sharon. She was unaware Nick had been trying to call her all day to let her know Mary Jane is still in town and on the loose.
J.T. and Heather are very concerned about Paul’s well being. They know Paul tracked down Mary Jane but are unaware Mary Jane is Paul’s sister Patty. Paul desperately wants to help his sister and finds protection at a local church.
All at the Newman ranch anxiously await the results from Ashley’s psychiatric evaluation. With Adam’s help, Ashley passes with flying colors and does not have to be committed. Jack is visibly angry, everyone else if relieved. Ashley is grateful to Adam for his coaching. If you have a friend like Adam, you don’t need an enemy.
Are we watching The Young and the Restless? It seems to me more like The Young and the Mentally Insane. I wish the writers would reconsider their current storylines and craft a drama worthy of its’ name and legacy. Every plot and sub-plot has a female loosing her mind. What happened to corporate espionage, love triangles and romance?

Mental illness is running amok in Genoa City.
Jack, torn between Ashley’s and Sharon’s mental issues, tries to get a court order to get Ashley removed from Victor’s home. Victor is furious. Ashley pleads with her brother to leave it alone. Adam, still manipulating Ashley, consoles her and assures her he will not let anyone take her away.
In the meantime, Jack calls Sharon at the psych ward she checked herself into, to see how she is doing and asks to see her. Sharon, knowing how much pain she has caused Jack, tries to keep in at arms length. Later Phyllis pays Sharon a visit and is surprised to learn Jack has not visited Sharon at the hospital. She knows Jack well enough and questions why he would not support the mother of his unborn child. She realizes Jack may not be the father of Sharon’s baby which makes Nick the likely candidate.
Lily questions her husband’s loyalty and wonders if she made the right choice allowing Cane back into her life.
