Today’s Recap of The Young and the Restless October 30, 2009

At the tack house Phyllis reads an article slandering Victoria on Billy’s Restless Style blog and shows it to Nick. Nick is furious. Phyllis wants revenge. Adam arrives with papers for Nick to sign. Nick tells him to stop negotiating contracts on his behalf and reminds his half brother he will never have what is his. Phyllis makes a call to the press. Both Nick and Phyllis agree it’s time to put business aside and focus on Halloween for Summer’s sake.

Halloween abounds at Sharon’s. As she prepares for the trick-or-treaters, she reflects back to when her own children were young. Later Adam arrives. She tells him how much she enjoys the holiday and they both reminisce about their own childhoods. As Sharon and Adam continue to bond, Nick and Phyllis arrive with Summer and they are all surprised to see him there.

At the ranch Ashley is concerned Victor’s news will upset Abby. Victor tells Abby he is going away to recover from his surgery and assures his daughter how much he loves her. Abby leaves to meet friends at Crimson Lights. Ashley thanks Victor for trying to help their daughter. She also tells Victor she has taken her own responsibility concerning their divorce. He tells her while he is away Nicholas and Victoria will be running Newman Enterprises, Michael will handle his legal affairs and Adam will return to Newman. He tells her she is the reason he is willing to give Adam a second chance. He also tells her he has not changed his feelings about her brothers, especially in light of the recent magazine article.

At Newman Victoria is happy Nikki will be accompanying Victor on his trip to Belgium. Nikki asks her daughter about JT. She tells her she cheated on him. Victoria regrets her actions. She fears after JT punched Deacon publicly her affair will become public also. She tells Nikki she was upset with JT because she was jealous of Colleen. She admits she has been avoiding talking with JT because she knows how deeply she hurt him. Nikki tells her she needs to face this now. She reminds her how much she and JT love each other. She encourages her daughter to fight for her marriage because it’s worth it.

Billy is throwing a Halloween party at Jimmy’s Bar with Mac and all are dressed for the festivities. Jack enters and is furious with Billy for naming Patty in the article. Billy tells him this issue of Restless Style has sold more than any other. He tells Jack it is business not personal. Jack tells Billy he’s good for nothing and is through with him. Kevin enters and tells Mac he and Jana won’t be attending a parted hosted by Billy. Mac tells Kevin she loves Billy and assures him Billy will do something positive with Restless Style.

JT meets Victoria at Newman and she is finally willing to talk. She tells him she doesn’t want Deacon and is sorry she hasn’t been able to talk about it. He asks her why. She tells him she doesn’t know but wants to try to work things out. Deacon enters and shows them the story Billy posted online. Later JT leaves Victoria a letter telling her he’s leaving for New York.

Back at the ranch Jack arrives while Victor is still there. Victor is surprised to see Jack and Jack is annoyed. Ashley tells Jack to be nice to Victor because he is still the father of her daughters. Ashley leaves to bring Abby her phone and the men are left alone. Victor tells Jack he’s been waiting to say goodbye to him for years and Jack can’t wait to see Victor gone. Nikki enters and knows she’ll need to play referee between her ex-husbands. Jack reminds Victor how much he enjoyed setting him up when he helped Adam write the diary. Nikki tells Jack to get out. Victor tells Jack he will get revenge on him and Billy when he returns to Genoa City. He tells Jack he ain’t seen nothing yet.

Meanwhile Nikki ran into Ashley at Crimson Lights. Ashley tells Nikki it’s ok that she is happy with Victor. Nikki tells Ashley she is grateful to her for bringing Victor back home. Ashley tells her she has no regrets but doesn’t understand how Nikki could want Victor in her life after he has caused so many people so much pain. Later Ashley tries to track down Abby, but she is not there.

The underage Abby and a friend, dressed in Halloween costumes, crash Billy’s party at Jimmy’s Bar. Victoria enters and slugs Billy.

Today’s Recap of The Young and the Restless October 29, 2009

We enjoyed a walk down memory lane as Victor Newman said farewell to Faith and to Genoa City today on The Young and the Restless. Victor and Nikki reconnected in his bed at the Athletic Club. He tells her he is grateful for his recent gift of life and mentions the ring he gave her is a promise to take things one step at a time together. They both agree time spent at the clinic will be the best thing for his recovery. Nikki leaves to tell the children about their plans. Victor records a message to Faith leaving her his version of his life so she’ll be able to understand her father. He tells her he chose the name Victor for “victorious” and Newman for he became a “new man” when he left the orphanage to strike out on his own. He tells her how he feels about the Abbott family. How he admired John and loved her mother. Her Uncle Jack is a different story. He feels Jack is misguided but they do share some of the same attributes, to protect their families and the ones they love. He tells her how much he has loved her mother, Hope and Nikki. He encourages her never to quit because she has failed at something and tells her to stand her ground. He tells her he will always love her. Victor tells Faith people will always try to get close to her because she is a Newman. She will know her real friends because they will always tell her the truth, not want she wants to hear. He advises her to keep her friends close and her family closer and remember her family above all else. Nikki calls and requests his presence at Newman.

At Newman Adam offers his help to Victoria. He tells her Victor wants him to assume more responsibility there. Adams shares with Victoria and Nick Billy’s reason for the expose, he was looking for justice. Victoria tells Nick the SEC feels they have a weak case against her and she is relieved. He asks his sister why JT went off on Deacon. She tells him it was a misunderstanding.

While Jack, Ashley and Katherine are sharing coffee at Crimson Lights, they are all disappointed with Billy’s behavior concerning the expose on Victor. As Jack is encouraging his sister to return to Jabot, Katherine suggests she take a little more time to spend with her family.

Nick enters the offices of Restless Style and is out for blood. He tells Billy he has until the end of the day to vacate the building. Billy tells him he will publish Restless Style from his car if he has to. Later a man enters with a photo of JT punching Deacon at Newman. Billy purchases the phone and tells the man if he acquires any additional Newman material to let him know first. Later Billy meets with Deacon and shows him the photo. He questions Deacon but he is not forthcoming with an answer. Billy continues his investigation at the Athletic Club. He bribes Deacon’s maid and asks her if she ever saw Victoria there. She tells him she has seen her come and go a few times. Billy begins his next story on Victoria.

Nikki visits Katherine and she admires her new ring. It is reminiscent of the ring Katherine once gave to Nikki. She tells Nikki she knew her and Victor were not over. She asks Nikki what is really going on between them. Nikki tells her she can’t say anything before they speak with the children and invites Katherine to come along.

Jack follows Ashley back to the ranch. She tells him she is not returning to Jabot. He’s not happy and tries to convince her otherwise. She tells him Victor is leaving town and she needs to spend more time with her girls.

Nikki, Victoria, Nick, Adam and Katherine await Victor’s arrival at Newman.

I love retrospective episodes in daytime television. When as fans we allow these characters into our homes on a daily basis it is heartwarming to watch clips of the past.

Today’s Recap of The Young and the Restless October 28, 2009

Nikki returns to Victor’s suite. He tells her he is leaving for Belgium and asks her to go with him. She tells him she needs to discuss it with the children before she can give him an answer but assures him if she decides to go it will only be to oversee his recovery. Victor asks her again about their future together and she tells him she’s afraid. He tells her she was right when she told him he would never love another woman like he loves her. Abby enters and she assumes Nikki is the reason her mother and father are divorcing.

As Kevin and Jana prepare for their family dinner party Michael and Lauren arrive. Jana tells Lauren about the photo and the Ouija board. The ladies agree Ryder is hiding something. Michael tries to convince them to behave this evening for Kevin’s sake. Ryder enters and thanks everyone for coming on his behalf. Lauren and Jana decide to play 20 questions with Ryder as the target. He becomes offended.

At Crimson Lights Gloria and Jeff see a copy of the Restless Style issue featuring Victor Newman. As the Bardwells read the expose on Victor, they realize Victor had insider information on the now defunct bank at the Cayman Islands where they lost all of their money.   

Meanwhile at Restless Style Mac enters and is upset with Billy for writing the story about Victor. She tells him Traci’s act of kindness could have ended the Newman – Abbott war forever but this article will start the feud all over again. She tells Billy his actions were cruel. Mac leaves as Sharon and Ashley enter. Ashley is furious with her little brother for using the money she lent him to attack Victor. She reminds Billy that Victor is the father of his nieces. Billy insists it was a business decision. Ashley tells him his profits are going to hurt a lot of people.

As Nick helps Noah settle into Sharon’s new home, he is pleased to see Sharon happy and tells her he is proud of her. Nick notices a photo of Cassie and they reminisce about the past. Noah enters with a copy of Restless Style. Nick is furious and leaves to tell Victor. Sharon is upset because she just accepted a job at the magazine. She tells Noah she is going to quit.

Ashley arrives at Victor’s suite and Nikki excuses herself. Abby tells her parents she believes Colleen’s death was Patty’s fault, not Victors. Victor apologizes to his daughter for the pain his parents are causing her. She tells them she doesn’t understand why her family is falling apart and leaves. Ashley questions Victor about his plans to leave Genoa City and wants to know if it has anything to do with her. He tells her he feels bad for the pain he has caused her but assures her upon his return he will take an active role in his daughter’s lives.

The Bardwells arrive at the Fishers. Gloria and Jeff tell Michael about the article. They suggest to him, as “their” lawyer, he needs to prove Victor had insider information. He reminds them he works for Victor and it would be a conflict of interest. Gloria plays the “mom” card and reminds her son she gave him life.

Meanwhile Jana and Lauren continue to drill Ryder and he still evades their questions. There is an emergency at Crimson and Ryder volunteers to attend to it. After he leaves Kevin reads Jana and Lauren the riot act for alienating his brother. Later Lauren and Jana agree to work together to find out what Ryder is hiding. Michael tells Lauren he agreed to help Gloria. Mac enters and asks to speak with Kevin. He is surprised she would seek his advice concerning Billy. He tells her Billy will keep breaking her heart as long as she lets him.

Nick arrives at his father’s suite and shows him the magazine. Nick tells his father if he knew Billy was going to attack him he would have never let Phyllis sell Restless Style. Nick asks his father what he wants to do about it. Victor tells his son he does not want to do anything because he feels he needs to protect Abby. Nick tells Victor he is not willing to let this go. After Nick leaves Victor and Nikki share a tender moment and Victor presents her with a ring.

Nick arrives at Restless Style. He tells Billy he may own the magazine but he still owns the building and throws him out.

Today’s Recap of The Young and the Restless October 27, 2009

At Newman, Adam seems quite pleased with the results of his ploy regarding the SEC investigation. He asks Michael if he could help him try to determine who made the call to the SEC. Michael tells Adam to find someone else to help him score points with his father. During the hearing with the SEC, Victoria assures the investigators when she made the statement concerning Victor’s health, she was confident about his recovery. Deacon enters stating he is a stockholder. He declares himself a character witness on Victoria’s behalf. He tells the investigators he and Victoria have had several business dealings together and verifies her trustworthiness. Nick seems annoyed by Deacon’s presence and leaves. Victoria asks Deacon why he went to bat for her. He tells her he was hoping they could reconnect again. As Deacon and Victoria are talking in the Newman hallway, JT enters, slugs Deacon, and tells him to stay away from his wife. A noble gesture but Victoria and Nick wish it was not in front of the SEC.

Victor arrives at the ranch. Ashley isn’t happy his visit is unannounced and wants to establish ground rules for the future. He tells her he owns the ranch and can come and go as he pleases. Ashley demands Victor to treat her with respect. He thinks she is being irrational again, but she insists she is fine. She tells him she has felt fine since Faith was born. All of her insecurities from the pregnancy vanished when she realized her baby was healthy. She thanks Victor for giving her their girls but asks him to leave her alone. He agrees. Later Phyllis visits Ashley and admires Faith. Ashley tells her the cost of being a Newman is too high and wants to keep her girls away from the dark side. Phyllis tells her if she wants all of the privileges of being a Newman she has to accept the bad as well.

At Crimson Lights Amber and Lauren discuss Amber’s fashion line. Lauren tells her the jackets are not selling well. Amber asks Lauren for a job but there are no openings. Phyllis interrupts and tells Lauren she would be crazy to hire Amber. Phyllis accuses Amber of not having Daniel’s best interest at the heart because of her involvement with Deacon. Lauren asks Amber if she learned anything about Ryder from Deacon. She tells Lauren not to trust him.

As Jana and Kevin are straightening out their apartment they find a picture of Ryder from his youth that is torn. Ryder enters and becomes angry the two are looking through his things. Kevin and Ryder leave and Jana continues to look at the photo. Later Amber arrives with a Ouija Board. The girls ask the board about Amber’s future in fashion. The board spells out the word “dead”. They ask if Daniel will love her forever and the board replies with the same answer. They then ask who the missing person in the photo is with Ryder. The board answers “dead” again. They both agree the missing person in the photo is dead. The board answers “no”.

Later at Victor’s suite Victor tells Michael of the changes he is planning. He is leaving Genoa City to spend some time at a cardiac rehab facility. He tells him he is still concerned about Ashley’s well being and asks his trusted attorney to keep an eye on her. Victor also tells Michael he has confidence in his children’s ability to run Newman Enterprises in his absence and asks him to give Adam more responsibility. Michael does not think this is a good idea. He tells Victor Nicholas and Victoria work well together because they trust each other. Neither can say the same about Adam. Adam arrives with the phone records indicating one of Victor’s assistants called the SEC. Nick arrives and tells his father what just transpired between JT and Deacon. Victor tells Nick his plans and suggests he give Adam more responsibility at Newman. Nick doesn’t agree. Victor tells him he doesn’t have a choice. Nick is concerned by doing this it will open the door for Adam to stab them in the back again. Victor is certain it will not happen.

Today’s Recap of The Young and the Restless October 26, 2009

Sharon questions Adam’s judgment about himself. He convinces her he is a liar and manipulator. Adam tries to explain his reasons to Sharon about his behavior. She is shocked he had a relationship with Rafe Torres, her attorney. She suggests to Adam he needs to learn to move on. This seems to be the popular choice on The Young and the Restless lately. He questions her why she always gives him the benefit of the doubt. Sharon and Adam agree to be each others 12 step sponsors for when they feel the urge to misbehave.    

Nikki helps Victor settle in to his suite at the Athletic Club. He wants to know why each time he asks about their future together she avoids the conversation. She again defers from the conversation and leaves.

Victoria calls JT while he’s en route to New York and leaves a message telling him she loves him. She meets with Michael at the Athletic Club to discuss the allegations against her. Michael tries to figure out who Victoria’s enemies are. Victor enters and asks what they are doing at the Athletic Club in the middle of the afternoon. Victoria tells her father about the SEC investigation and the relentless media coverage. She tells Victor she wants to fight back. He tells his daughter she has done a wonderful job at Newman but he will be taking over and will deal with the media hacks. Victoria insists to Victor she can handle this and wants to defend her own name. Victor encourages his daughter to rise above the noise from the press. She agrees and tells him she will focus on business until they find out who contacted the SEC. After Victoria leaves, Victor and Michael continue their discussion about Victor’s Last Will and Testament. He tells Michael Adam will not have carte blanch at Newman Enterprises. Michael inquires why Victor is getting his ducks in a row. Victor tells him he will be making major changes in his life. Later Michael tells Adam he is there to make sure he doesn’t get everything he wants.

Jack arrives at Restless Style bearing champagne and asking Billy if he’s lost his mind. Billy tells Jack about his plan for the new cover story. When Jack realizes it’s a story about Victor, he tells his little brother to step aside and watch the master bring down “old mumbles”. Billy thinks it is ironic Jack was opposed to him buying Restless Style but now that he is roasting Victor Newman in print, his brother is on his side. Jack insists to Billy he not include anything about Patty Williams in the piece. Billy doesn’t agree at first but tells Jack he will not mention her. After Jack leaves Billy continues to write the story with Patty in the forefront. As Billy sends the file to the printer, Sharon enters and asks him for a job. Billy agrees to hire her.

At the Chancellor Estate, Katherine and Nikki talk about Victor. Nikki tells her their relationship has become simpler. Katherine tells her best friend she can dance this dance until the end of time but it is her turn on the dance floor. Nikki tells her if she married Paul she wouldn’t have been happy. Katherine tells her there is no time for vacillation and tells her to cut the crap and move on with her life. She tells Katherine her feelings for Victor will never go away but she does not want to become helpless again.

Paul meets with Dr. Peterson at Crimson Lights. Paul tells her he wants his sister back and asks Dr. Peterson for her help. Dr. Peterson tells him Patty may never be the person she once was. She tells him the dean at the university wants her to start teaching again and she is planning on returning to Minnesota. He plays on her compassion and asks her to reconsider staying in Genoa City. She is one of the few people Patty trusts and he feels she is the only one that could help her. She agrees to stay a few more days. Later Jack enters and Dr. Peterson asks him to stop seeing her patient. Jack agrees but asks her to stop judging him every time they see each other.

Fans of The Young and the Restless are thrilled to announce Eric Braeden and Sony have reached an accord. Mr. Braeden will remain on The Young and the Restless for the next three years.

Mr. Braeden has played the role of Victor Newman for thirty years. It was reported he filmed his last scene which is to air on November 2. After a brief sabbatical he will return to Genoa City!!! Will he return with a vengeance or with a heart?

Today’s Recap of The Young and the Restless October 23, 2009

Faith and fortitude describes today’s episode of The Young and the Restless.  Preparing to become Faith’s godfather, Adam reflects back to when he switched Sharon’s and Ashley’s babies.

At Crimson Lights Jack meets Katherine. He is still annoyed with Katherine’s decision to hire Jill to run Jabot with him. Katherine defends her decision. Jack tries to persuade her that he and the Abbotts can handle their family business. Jack must have a short memory. Jill was once married to Jack’s father and she is Billy’s mother. She is an Abbott. Katherine insists due to the trials and tribulations Jabot has recently faced, there needs to be two strong figures running Jabot.

As Billy gives Mac a tour at Restless Style, Chloe shows him the next cover for the magazine. He is not happy with the cover story and wants to change the concept. He and Mac leave for the christening. Chloe is left minding the store.

JT meets Victoria at Newman. He feels she’s been avoiding him. She promises him they will talk tonight. He tells her he will be in New York for his job interview. She is surprised he is still pursuing the job opportunity there. She has made it clear Genoa City is her home. JT feels they both need to make a fresh start away from Genoa City. Suddenly Victoria realizes JT wants her to leave town because of her relationship with Deacon. He tries to convince her a move to New York will make him feel independent. Once again she’s interrupted by a phone call and leaves.

Sharon arrives at the chapel to meet with her bereavement counselor. A moment later Ashley and Traci enter with Faith. As the Abbotts and Newmans gather, all admire Faith’s christening gown which was Colleen’s. Adam arrives and gives Faith a gift that belonged to his mother Hope. Just as the ceremony begins, Victor arrives escorted by Nikki. All are surprised to see him there. He asks Traci if he may hold his daughter. Traci is surprised to learn Colleen is the name her sister chose as Faith’s middle name. As the parents and godparents are called away to sign the christening papers, Traci asks Nick to hold Faith. He graciously holds Faith unaware he is her father. From afar Sharon watches her former husband hold the baby. Adam catches a glimpse of Sharon in the doorway. Later Victor tells Faith she is a Newman and is entitled to everything the name brings. Jack also reminds his thought to be niece, she is an Abbott and he will make sure she never forgets that.

After the ceremony Katherine meets Billy and Mac at Restless Style. She is proud of Billy for taking a risk to fulfill his passion. He asks Chloe if it’s too late to change the cover story for the next issue. She recites a long list of the reasons why he should not do it. She suggests he save his ideas for another edition. After Chloe leaves Billy calls the printer to hold production. He moves forward with his plan to write an expose about Victor.

Adams stops by Sharon’s and tells her he could see she was upset at the chapel. She invites him in and shows him the bracelet she bought for Faith. Sharon starts to blame herself for her baby dying. He tells her she has nothing to be sorry for. He assures her his devious deeds far out way hers.

JT escorts Victoria back to Newman where she tells him she cannot leave Genoa City and if he accepts the offer in New York he will be going alone.

Jack and Traci share a tearful goodbye. Ashley is concerned her sister will never return home. Jack assures her she will return one day. He asks Ashley to try to talk some sense into Billy. She tells Jack it’s too late, she is the one who lent the money to Billy to buy the magazine. Jack is appalled.

We didn’t have a big dramatic cliff hanger on The Young and the Restless today but as fans of the show we like the direction the storylines are taking. With any luck Sharon and Nick will soon learn the truth about Faith. Hopefully Michael and Lauren will have a front burner storyline and we are looking forward to more verbal foreplay between Billy and Chloe. William Russ of “Boy Meets World” fame has been cast to play a billionaire by the name of Tucker on The Young and the Restless. We look forward to Mr. Russ’s arrival in Genoa City.

Scott Reeves who portrayed Ryan on The Young and the Restless has been cast to play Steven Lars Webber on General Hospital. The fans of The Young and the Restless are happy to see Scott’s return to daytime. We wish him the best of luck in Port Charles.

Both of Faith’s mothers bond today on The Young and the Restless. At the chapel Ashley finalizes her plans for Faith’s christening and Sharon prays to her daughters telling Faith she will hold her in her arms one day. She tells Cassie how much she misses her and promises her girls she will get through her grief. Meanwhile Adam arrives at the chapel. Sharon is surprised to learn Adam is going to be Faith’s godfather. She asks him if Victor is happy with the news. He tells her he hasn’t seen his father in a few days. She encourages him to visit Victor at the hospital. Later Ashley offers Adam a ride home. He tells her Sharon suggested he visit Victor. Ashley is surprised to learn Adam and Sharon have become friends.

Back at Victor’s hospital room Dr. Peterson introduces herself to Jack and Victor. Jack is shocked by the resemblance to Mary Jane and Patty. He accuses Victor of copying Patty’s Dr.’s face when he paid for Patty’s transformation. Victor asks Dr. Peterson why she is in Genoa City. She tells him she came to help Patty. She assumes Victor is the reason Patty suddenly vanished from Minnesota. She assures Victor he will not be able to control her. Victor tells Dr. Peterson he will have her licensed revoked for her inability to know how dangerous Patty was. Victor asks her if she will be involved in Patty’s treatment and she assures him she will. Later Victor tells Paul to get in touch with Dr. Peterson. He wants Paul to tell her he will pay her salary and living expenses while she is treating Patty. Victor claims he wants to help Patty. Paul is certain Victor’s generosity is to ease his guilt and demands a confession. None is forthcoming.    

Adam enters Victor’s room and is surprised to learn there is another woman roaming around Genoa City that looks exactly like Mary Jane Benson. He feels in his own deranged mind he would not want to be her. Adam tries to console Victor by letting him know his past actions will be forgiven like his own. Victor becomes angry with his son and tells him he has not yet earned his father’s trust, he has only just begun. Looks like Adam has a steep mountain to climb in Victor’s eyes.

Mac runs into Chance at Crimson Lights. He is buying cannolis to bring to Chloe. Mac is frustrated with the relationship Billy continues to have with Chloe. Chance tells Mac Chloe will always be a part of Billy’s life. She tells Chance Billy’s plans to buy Restless Style. Chance is stunned because Chloe has not said a word. Neither Chance nor Mac thinks it’s a good idea for Billy and Chloe to work together. Mac is happy Billy has found a productive passion in his life (that is what trust funds and a rich sister will buy you). As the couple shares their grievances about their own lives, Billy calls and asks Mac to meet him at Restless Style. Chance calls Chloe but she is still mum about her new boss.

At Restless Style Phyllis is starting to have second thoughts about selling the magazine. Nick reminds her how excited they were when they started Restless Style. He feels since the original partners have moved on she should do the same but he will support whatever decision she makes. Billy arrives with the check in hand and Phyllis develops cold feet. Nick tells her the only reason she should keep the magazine is if it is still her passion. She realizes it’s time to pass the torch and accepts Billy’s check. She calls an impromptu staff meeting and introduces them to their new boss. She tearfully thanks her staff for their dedication and hard work. Billy asks the Newmans to stay and celebrate but they decide to leave and celebrate on their own at the Athletic Club. Mac arrives bearing a celebratory bottle of champagne. Billy addresses his staff and invites them to celebrate with him. Chance enters and Chloe is surprised. She claims she was going to tell him about her new boss but could not find the time. Chance tells her nothing can happen between them while she is still hung up on Billy. He tries to convince her in Billy’s eyes she is not the one for him. She looks over at Billy while he is sharing a celebration kiss with Mac.

At the ranch Sharon brings Ashley a box of items she bought for her own daughter. Ashley is grateful to receive the gifts. One of the items is a small charm bracelet with the name Faith engraved on the charm. Ashley feels although their daughters share the same name Sharon should keep the bracelet. As Sharon is leaving she hears Faith’s cry.

Later at the Athletic Club Jack meets Dr. Peterson. She asks Jack how he met Mary Jane Benson. He told her he met her at Jabot. She tells Jack everything she knows about him she learned from Patty. He said that was the boy he once was, not the man he is now. He tells her he is not proud of the person he use to be. She tells him she believes him and is sorry about what has happened to Patty.

So fans of The Young and the Restless, what do you think Phyllis’s new venture will be. We know Genoa City’s favorite red head can’t stay idle for long. Maybe she will run Newman while Victor is away. How long do you think it will take Jack to make a move on the beautiful and hopefully sane Dr. Peterson?  Our bet is by the November sweeps. Today’s recap of The Young and the Restless October 21, 2009

Today was an enticing day of cocktails and coffee on The Young and the Restless. Billy runs into Jack at Indigo and Jack is aware Billy is having trouble acquiring financing for his new deal. Billy finally tells Jack of his plans to buy Restless Style. He tries to convince Jack he is more than qualified to run the magazine. Jack is not so sure and still refuses to give Billy access to his trust fund. Billy is disgruntled by the lack of support from his big brother.

Katherine and Jill arrive and need to discuss Jabot business with Jack. Jabot’s fourth quarter earnings do not look good and the ladies are concerned. Katherine decides to reinstate Jill at Jabot with both Jack and Jill sharing control. Jack is not happy with Katherine’s decision. Katherine leaves and Jill asks Jack for a status update concerning the company. He tells her about a P.R. agency he has retained to help restore customer faith in Jabot. She is happy with his choice but starts to dig a little deeper. Jack is interrupted by a phone call and Jill tells him they will pick up their conversation tomorrow at the office. She then calls the P.R. agency and issues her first press release, “Jill Abbott is back at Jabot, right where she belongs”.

Ashley visits Victor at the hospital and tells him the deed to the ranch has been transferred to her. Victor seems happy his daughters will be raised there. She then tells him Faith’s christening will be tomorrow. He becomes irate because she originally told him she planned to have the christening in a few weeks and he was looking forward to attending. She tells him she needed to move it up because Traci is ready to return to New York and Traci is going to be Faith’s godmother. Victor is still upset and cannot understand Ashley’s attitude. She explains to Victor her attitude is the result of his actions. As Ashley continues to vent her frustrations to Victor, Billy enters and tries to calm her down. Victor reminds them of the surgery he is recovering from and tells them to leave.

Paul runs into Nikki at Crimson Lights. He tells her he is on his way to visit Patty at the mental hospital and feels her diagnosis is grim. He still feels guilty he was not able to help his sister. Nikki is still in denial about Victor’s involvement in Patty’s transformation. She is also surprised to learn Victor tried to track her down the night she left Genoa City. Later Traci enters and asks Nikki about Victor’s recovery. She is glad to hear his health is improving. Nikki thanks Traci for her generosity and bravery. Traci encourages Nikki to think long and hard before she gets involved with Victor again. Later Katherine meets Nikki at Crimson Lights and Nikki questions Victor’s intentions now that he is going to recover.

The “brunette” Patty visits the real Patty at the psych ward. Patty refers to her twin as Dr. Pete. She is thrilled to see her former psychiatrist. Patty is convinced her and Jack are married and her padded cell is their new home. Dr. Pete is shocked to see that Patty’s appearance is her own. Patty tells Dr. Pete about her marriage to Jack. She tries to convince Patty she is not married to Jack and Patty becomes angry. Paul enters and is surprised to see the brunette version of his sister standing next to her. Patty introduces Dr. Pete to Paul. Paul asks to speak to the Dr. privately and Patty offers to make everyone tea in her padded cell. Dr. Pete re-introduces herself to Paul as Dr. Emily Peterson from Minnesota. Both want to know how and why Patty transformed herself physically into Dr. Peterson. Paul tells her of his suspicions about Victor’s involvement and also updates her on Patty’s actions in Genoa City. Later Patty waits for Jack to come home for dinner.

Billy takes Ashley home. He is glad to see his sister is the new proprietor of the Newman Ranch. He then asks her to invest in Restless Style. Feeling confident about her brother, she agrees. He assures her she will be proud of him.

Paul and Jack enter Victor’s hospital room. Paul tells both men he has someone he would like them to meet. Dr. Peterson enters the room and both Jack and Victor are speechless.

We are glad to see The Young and the Restless is living up to its’ name during the last week or so. For the longest time we renamed the show, “The Dark and Deranged”.
