Ashley arrives at Jabot as Jack relishes the prospect of once again owning his family’s company. She asks him the amount of his bid and Jack claims the bid was far more than Jabot is worth. Tucker arrives and tells the Abbotts they were outbid by Victor Newman. Jack is devastated by the news and admits to Ashley Victor claimed he was not through with him yet. As Jack and Emily share breakfast at the Athletic Club and admire their engagement announcement in the newspaper, Jack orders champagne to celebrate their upcoming nuptials as well as the Jabot purchase. Paul arrives, newspaper in hand, expressing his concern how their wedding announcement will affect Patty. Emily assures Paul Patty will not see it because she does not have access to a newspaper. Paul leaves and Jack gives Emily a gift, a bikini. He states they will be going somewhere warm on their honeymoon. She suggests she book a room at the club for the night before their wedding. Chloe arrives and the couple continues to firm up their wedding plans. Chloe asks Jack who he plans on asking to be his best man. Jack enlists his brother Billy who is touched and agrees. Jack arrives home while Emily, Malcolm and Chloe prepare for their engagement portrait. They complete the session and Chloe is anxious to leave for a date with Chance. She suggests while Malcolm is there, Emily should take her bridal portrait as well. As Jack and Malcolm continue to catch-up, Gloria and Jeff arrive. Jack introduces them to Emily and they are stunned by her resemblance to Patty. The Bardwells begin to tease Jack about their interest in Jabot and Jack begins to loose patience. Upon their investment, they request significant positions at Jabot. Jack declines to appoint them and they leave. Emily asks Jack what he has gotten himself into. Jack explains the history he shares with Gloria and Jabot and claims she is a necessary evil. Emily realizes Jack needs additional revenue to purchase Jabot and suggests he be prepared to deal with Ashley’s reaction when she realizes he has involved Gloria. Emily leaves to change into her wedding dress and Malcolm suggests Jack leave. Emily stops him and states they are not superstitious. Later, Jack receives a call from Jeffrey stating he is in. Jack calls Tucker and assures him no one will top their offer for Jabot. Emily returns in her wedding dress and Jack is in awe. (more…)
Victor arrives at the ranch to visit with Faith and to discuss property arrangements with Ashley. He suggests he buy the adjacent property to the ranch for Ashley and the girls. When Ashley realizes Victor is trying to buy his way back to the ranch, she becomes irate and tells him she is glad she is no longer married to him. Abby overhears her parents fighting and tells them her family tells her nothing but lies. She states she wishes she could divorce both of them and leaves. Noah intercedes and promises to find her. Ashley tells Victor she does not want to cause their daughter additional stress and he agrees. Ashley claims Abby is yearning for stability. He tells her he does not want their children to suffer because of their disagreements. Ashley reminds Victor about Adam and how he feels the constant need to compete with Victoria and Nicholas. Katherine arrives at the Athletic Club to join the meeting of the minds about the Chancellor reacquisition. Neil assures her they have many tricks up their sleeves. Cane enters and pleads with Katherine not to blame herself. Neil claims Tucker has called a meeting with all of the department heads of Chancellor Industries. Jill calls Cane and requests his presence at the meeting. Katherine slips and tells Cane Jill is sleeping with Tucker. Cane is devastated Jill lied to him. Katherine is convinced Jill was involved in Tucker’s plan from the beginning. (more…)
Phyllis, needing to separate business from family, resigns at Newman. As she kisses her husband goodbye, they are interrupted by Adam requesting Nick’s presence in Victor’s office. The Newman sons, Victor, Jack and Michael review the Tucker’s deal and realize it is solid. Cane arrives and states he will be working at Chancellor and offers his help. As the Knights of the Round Table brainstorm to develop their next move, Victor reminds everyone the goal is to return Chancellor Industries back to Katherine. As Jack and Michael are leaving they run into Phyllis and realize she just quit her job. Jack offers her a job at Jabot but she declines. She does accept Michael’s invitation for coffee. In the meantime, Victor and his sons try to develop a strategy against Tucker. Adam suggests they acquire Tucker’s assets when they become available. Victor is in agreement but Nick reminds his father Newman does not have the available cash they will need. Victor tells Nick not to worry about that and reminds him he is the reason Newman Enterprises is low on funds because of the Cayman Island bank settlement that Nick initiated. (more…)
Ashley and Jack join forces at Jabot to protect the company from Tucker. Jack reads a welcome letter from Mr. McCall stating there will be changes at Jabot in the future and Jack becomes paranoid. Ashley tells Jack about Victor demanding the ranch back. Jack is not surprised and refers to Victor’s latest move as “typical mustache”. Ashley feels the girls have every right to grow up there and Jack encourages his sister to hold her ground. (more…)
At the ranch Sharon tells Adam Phyllis’s questions about last night are haunting her. She asks Adam why he claimed Dr. Taylor was drunk when in fact his blood alcohol level was low. She also asks Adam what they were arguing about. Adam insists Dr. Taylor was drinking at Jimmy’s and claims maybe the combination of alcohol and his medication caused his erratic behavior. He tells Sharon his only concern was to protect Ashley from Dr. Taylor’s outbursts because he was trying to visit with her again. Sharon understands this was the argument Phyllis witnessed and she misjudged the situation. Later Adam approaches Ashley as she is holding Faith and asks how she’s doing. Adam repeats the same story to Ashley and convinces her not to blame herself. Ashley is surprised to learn Nick is still giving Adam a hard time. As he watches her hold Faith, he tells her there are some things that are unforgivable and mentions how grateful he is to her for trusting him.
Jack meets Emily at the book store and gives her a key to the Abbott Mansion. As Jack makes a mental note to call Sharon, Emily asks him why he has a compulsive need to help her. She tells Jack she does not want her marriage to be a party of three. He claims Sharon is vulnerable but she assures him she is a very confident woman. She asks her fiancée to be Sharon’s friend, not her knight in shining armor. (more…)
